Painting action by Berlin Partner at the Berlin 'Hoffest' 2009
At the Berlin 'Hoffest' 2009 on 8 September the Berlin Partner GmbH organised a painting action of two dominos in front of the Red Town Hall for the "Festival of Freedom" on 9 November. While painting, the young artists, children of Berlin Partner employees, have been visited by Klaus Wowereit, governing mayor of the city of Berlin.
Presentation of the dominos of the Institut français
On 3 September, the Institut français Berlin gave 12 designed dominos to Klaus Wowereit, governing mayor of the city of Berlin and authorized representative of the federal republic of Germany for the German-French cultural cooperation, in front of the Red Town Hall. The dominos had been designed by French artists together with German and French students in several workshops in the Institut Français Berlin. The ceremony was framed by a dance performance of the French artist Caroline Bo.
Domino action with Wall artists Kani and Kasra Alavi as well as Jörg Weber in two Berlin stations
On 26 August the Wall artists Kani and Kasra Alavi designed a domino in Berlin Ostbahnhof. At the same time, Jörg Weber designed a domino in Berlin central station. The three friends work toghether in the artists initiative East Side Gallery e.V., which Kani Alavi is chairman of. Both travellers and Berlin citizens had the chance to watch the artists' work at face and thus became aware of the theme year '20 Years since the Fall of the Wall'. With this action the advertising associations Berlin-Ostbahnhof and Berlin-Hauptbahnhof took part at the theme year as domino sponsors.
Domino actions at RBB "Abendschau on Tour"
In the beginning of August the RBB toured through Berlin for one week with its telecast 'Abendschau'. On this occasion the RBB invited the domino action of the theme year "20 Years since the Fall of the Wall" with young creatives. On 3 August youths from Berlin designed a domino together with the magician Jochen Stelter at the Bösebrücke in Prenzlauer Berg and on 7 August pupils of the Bertha-von-Suttner-Oberschule designed a domino in the famous Mauerpark [Wall Park].
Painting action with young musicians of the "West-Eastern Divan Orchestra" in Sevilla
On 4 August young musicians of the world-famous "West-Eastern Divan Orchestra" designed a domino during their annual rehersal phase and on occasion of their tenth anniversary in Sevilla. In the orchestra musicians from Israel, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Iran, Turkey and Spain play together for the dialogue between peoples and cultures.
